Potential Drawbacks of Project-Based Giving
Limited flexibility - In order to fulfill our promise to you, project-related donations will only be used for the intended initiatives. However, this may limit our ability to respond quickly to unexpected needs or seize new opportunities.
For example, funds earmarked for a project that is already making good progress and is self-sustaining may remain restricted so that they cannot be used for other urgent or emerging needs. Using these funds for a new project would require communication with the donor, increasing the administrative efforts and delaying the potential impact.

Project-based donations often come with a defined start and end date. While this allows for targeted initiatives, it also means that the funding is typically time-limited.
To align with our focus on sustainable solutions, we prioritize initiatives that build local structures and empower communities. This requires careful planning to ensure long-term impact and that the projects are not just completed but create lasting, self-sustaining change based on the principle of “helping people to help themselves.”

Some projects may appear more attractive than others, or their impact may not be immediately clear. While we strive to communicate the goals and importance of each initiative/project as transparently as possible, we know that everyone (including us) has their own personal preferences. While we want to meet you where your interests lie, we also aim to avoid an unequal distribution of financial resources.
Project-based funding can unintentionally lead to certain projects receiving more support than others. However, we are committed to a fairer distribution, particularly in terms of financial resources and healthcare, education and social support.

We will announce on our website and other channels which projects need donations. Donations for projects not currently seeking funding will only be accepted after direct communication with the donor.
