Ways to Give

At mates4health, we stand for a fairer distribution of global resources and universal access to healthcare and education. As part of our project work, we provide financial support to our local project partners in the so-called Global South. However, we are aware that donations are closely linked to global power imbalances and historical injustices. 

Donations from organizations in the Global North to partners in the Global South always come with risks. They intervene in complex social, cultural, economic and political systems. Even when given with the best intentions, financial contributions can reinforce hierarchies, create dependencies and jeopardize the autonomy and self-determination of local communities. 

We take this responsibility seriously. That’s why we adhere to clear ethical principles to ensure that our work fosters partnerships based on equity, mutual learning and long-term sustainability. Rather than prescribing one-size-fits-all solutions, we collaborate with our partners to support locally led initiatives that strengthen existing structures, drive change and empower communities.
